• Image of £50 Give-a-Gift Card & Voucher: Trains 4 people to grow their own vegetables on a 1 year course

This gift voucher comes with a card describing the project below:

In northern Malawi, many people suffer from malnutrition. They have a very basic diet based on cassava (a starchy root vegetable similar to potato) which has little nutrients. They don't have access to any shops; they have to grow all their own food. Every year in the 'hunger season' which lasts from December to March, many will die from lack of food.

To address this issue, Temwa runs a variety of agricultural projects which are designed to support vulnerable people. They specifically target those looking after AIDS orphans, those who are living with HIV and AIDS and child-headed households.

These projects train people in how to grow a variety of vegetables and fruit, which enriches their diet and enables them to grow food the whole year round.
